Commissioned to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Bewick (1753-1828), one of the greatest Northern artists whose celebrated wood engravings were a critical influence on the growth of popular interest in natural history.
Hilary Paynter revisited the landscape known to Bewick and has recorded many features which would have been recognisable to him in the 18th century.
