Saltwell Park: Saltwell Willowherb
Dating back to 1876, Saltwell Park was designed to provide a haven of peace and tranquillity for the working folk of Gateshead, somewhere they could enjoy their precious leisure hours away from the heavy industry that provided their livelihood.
The five year restoration of the park, partly backed by one of the biggest Heritage Lottery Fund grants ever to be awarded in the North East, sees the landscape being transformed back to its former Victorian glory.
Bridget Jones has created a modern, glass-panelled stairway to set off the exciting new, contemporary interior of Saltwell Park’s tower.
