As part of Design Event '07 Inspire commissioned the mobile design exhibition READesign in collaboration with The Keelrow Bookshop in North Shields.
The mobile exhibition was housed and transported in a removal van with the concept originating from the mobile library model. Each of the commissioned artists, Fiona Thompson, Michael Armstrong and Ellen Bell created 'iconic' domestic items such as; the teapot, the chair & table, sofa, tablelamp etc. Artist Lindsay Duncanson worked with lighting and projection to translate imagery from the books onto the objects. By projecting historical images onto contemporary objects the exhibition visually expressed the history that has been absorbed by contemporary makers and influenced the type of work they make today.
