The 'Tyne Salmon Trail', was a year-long travelling sculpture project which celebrated the River Tyne as one of England's premier salmon rivers. The project was developed by Xsite Architecture in collaboration with the Environment Agency and Commissions North.
The project, which was launched in November 2007, travelled to rural and urban locations along the River Tyne, from its source to the sea, mirroring the migratory journey of the salmon. Each group of cubes incorporated a Bluetooth device, enabling visitors to receive messages providing useful information and images about the salmon and the River Tyne on their mobile phone.
